My name is Stephanie Boulton (she/her/hers), and I am a psychotherapist based in Denver and Boulder County in Colorado. I offer individual and group counseling. This is a blog where I share resources and share a little more of who and what influences how I work with people.

The main theoretical influences for my work are:

  • Attachment theory.: This is a theory that how we form early connections with caregivers/family informs how we are able to connect and form relationships with others into adulthood.
  • Feminist theory: looks at not only how patriarchy has impacted psychology and our psychological development but all forms of oppression continue to impact us.
  • Eco-psychology: how our connection with the natural world impacts our mental health
  • Narrative therapy: looks at the kinds of stories we tell ourselves, how that shapes how we act in our lives and impacts our self-concept and sees the potential in reimagining these stories in a way that gives us more freedom.
  • Somatic therapy: looks at the role of body in mental health, how our body stores memory and emotions and uses mindfulness to bring awareness and change in these processes
